Takshashila House takes its name from the ancient university of Taxila, one of the earliest centres of learning in the world. Scholars from across Asia gathered there — Chanakya, who wrote the Arthashastra, the physician Charaka, and the grammarian Panini all studied and taught within its walls. The house carries forward this legacy of scholarship and strategic thinking.

Throughout the year, Takshashila fields teams across the full spread of inter-house events — cricket and basketball on the field, athletics on Sports Day, and quiz competitions and debates in the academic block. The house is known for treating each fixture like a problem to be solved rather than a contest to be rushed into: house meetings open with a review of the previous event, what worked, what did not, and which combination of students gives us the best chance next time. Cultural performances and art displays get the same attention, with students choosing their own themes and building the act or exhibit over several weeks. Debaters prepare by running mock rounds against each other; quizzers build and share their own question banks. The result is a calendar that is busy, student-driven, and genuinely competitive.

Message from the House Captain
Last year we walked into the cricket tournament having lost our opening match. The team could have folded there. Instead, we sat down after the match, worked out exactly where we were leaking runs, adjusted the field placements, and came back to win the Spirit Cup. That is what Takshashila means to me — not a slogan painted on a banner, but the habit of looking at a setback clearly and refusing to give up on it. Whether it is a quiz buzzer, a relay baton, or a debate rebuttal, we turn up prepared, we read the situation, and we back each other right through to the final whistle.
